, an antique, c. 1925 sign / placard advertising first aid / preparedness for at home care. Handmade sign reads: For Home Protection / You should have - Surgical Dressings, Bandages, Plasters, etc. - in the medicine chest. On back, it is stamped: This Card Was Made By Standard Show Card Service 56 W. Washington St., (N.W. Cor. Dearborn) Chicago. Card, on heavier cardboard stock. Would have perhaps been displayed at a drugstore or pharmacists'. Interestingly, while it clearly refers to what we call a First Aid Kit, they do not use that language, but promote at least some of its modern contents! This is pre Band-Aid! A search of Standard Show Card Service suggests this company was most prominent in the 1920s. Measures 11" x 14"

Handmade placard on heavy cardboard has bumped/rubbed corners, some surface wear, creasing, and some toning. Quite a bit of character and displays well.
