Minelab GPX 4800 metal detector

Description

Minelab GPX 4800 metal detector.  Used Minelab GPX 4800.  In excellent condition and functions flawlessly.  Comes with 6", 14", and 24" Coiltek mono coils, 2 good batteries, headphones, and external speaker.  This is a fabulous deep seeking detector - very smooth threshold and nearly impervious to extreme mineralized ground.  It will work in diorite that's saturated with enough magnetite to hold a magnetic hammer at a 45 degree angle(see pic).  Never have I experienced a detector THAT impervious to tough ground!  It also excels as a relic and cache hunting machine.  With the 14" mono it can hit a small hammer down to 2.5 - 3 ft.  With a 24" mono coil it can detect large 2 x 3 foot objects down to 5-6  ft.  A 30" coil down to 7+ ft.  I owned a 4500 prior to this 4800, and the only noticeable performance differences are the 4800 has slightly smoother threshold and slightly better stability in hot ground. The 4800 lacks the FINE timing of the 5000, so for small sub gram nuggets I use the 6" mono coil and set the timing accordingly(sensitive extra).  For grain sized nuggets(tiny gold) a good VLF is the best choice.  Note - I replaced the stock rods with lightweight carbon fiber ones to lighten the detector a bit.  Only reason I'm selling is I busted up my knee on my last prospecting outing, and I won't be detecting again for quite some time.  Happy to answer any questions.  Thanks!
