Vintage Alabama Medical Association 1873 Gold Bullion Embroidered 3" Badge / Pin

Very nice piece of Alabama Medical history.
It reads "THE MEDICAL ASSOCIATION OF THE STATE OF ALABAMA *1873*"
I am not sure of the age but it definately isn't anything modern.
This 3" pin / badge has gold bullion  ( you can see it up close. It is small wire
I believe the inner part where crest is may be silk. Nice thread embroidery. This appears to be a very
nice quality piece.  The inner (white) appears to have some staining.
This came attached to an old piece of cardboard with no clasps. I added (3) 1950s Ballou clasps
