    Description

Vintage Peruvian Ethnic Shipibo Finely Stitched Hand Embroidered Fabric that I believe was to be a skirt and could have been made for personal use. Backside is plain black and folded and stitched together. I show pics of both sides to show all stitching and knotting. It appears to have more intricate stitching which also leads me to believe that it could’ve been made possibly for actual use, not commercially, or that it’s a vintage piece. The Shipibo Combo are the largest ethnic groups in Peru that still maintains their tribal identity and still practice shamanic traditions and beliefs. When eating the hallucinogenic plant called ayahuasca the shaman sings of his visualizations and vibrations. The women weave designs of the visualizations of the plants and the song that the shaman sings. The geometric patterns are created by sound vibrations called cymatics by scientific study where it is believed consciousness resides in geometry.
