The International Organization of Wooden Money Collectors (IOWMC) had its humble beginnings when a couple of collectors of wooden money gathered in
California
in 1964. From these humble beginnings the club quickly “exploded” to about 400 members by the mid-70’s. IOWMC held its 11
th
annual meeting in
August 1974, in Columbus, Ohio. This was hailed as the “World’s First All Wooden Money Convention” and took place over 3 days. Many collectors had exhibits of wooden money and it was reported that over 1,000,000 pieces of wooden money were exhibited. Members judged the exhibits and Clarence Kramer was chosen as the King of Wooden Money, Rusty Bailey was chosen Queen, and Tex Ryder was chosen Prince.

which is mailed to all club members. The newsletter has reports by the President, Secretary, Treasurer and Editor. Articles of interest to wooden money collectors, “want” and “for sale” advertisements, as well as a monthly mail auction fill each issue. Of special interest are the articles on the history of featured wooden money of the month
and useful information for both the novice and advanced wooden money collector.
